Modified on Thu, 26 Sep at 12:09 PM

This quick setup tutorial provides detailed instructions on how to get your DJ equipment ready to use with the Phase and Djay Pro USB integration.

Requirements

Detailed steps

1. Set up your Phase with djay Pro: open djay PRO, plug your mixer or controller and simply connect your Phase Receiver to your laptop via USB.

2. In djay Pro, set the deck control mode to “WIR” (standing for “wireless”) as illustrated below: this is the dedicated HID control mode for Phase.

3. Place your Remotes on top of your non-spinning records, and as usual, wait a few seconds for the calibration to be done (the LED turns solid), than you can start playing your tracks.

Additional Setup Tip

You can run a Manual calibration via Phase Manager to ensure your Remotes are spinning exactly at the right speed. To do so, open the Calibration menu of the Phase Manager settings and follow the directions.

Phase and djay PRO USB integration FAQ

  • Can I still use RCA cables after updating to the latest firmware?

Yes, it is possible to continue using Phase with the RCA cables. The process remains the same as before: make sure the cables are plugged from the Receiver to the Line inputs of your mixer or DVS interface, and don’t forget to switch the decks to Relative mode in your DJ software.

  • Can I use the djay PRO USB integration on my iPhone or iPad?

iPhone and iPad don't handle HID connection, that is why, unfortunately, the HID integration is only available on Windows & MacOS for now.

  • I noticed something unusual while using the djay PRO USB integration, how can I report it?

If you encounter issues or if you notice unexpected behaviours while using the Phase and djay PRO USB integration, please get in touch with us through this contact form.

  • Do I need a DVS interface and the PRO Subscription on djay PRO to use the USB integration?

To use the USB integration on Djay Pro, you only need the PRO subscription on Djay Pro. Using a DVS interface isn't mandatory, you will still be able to control the decks without a mixer or controller, but you won't be able to control the "mixer" part of the Dj software

  • Is the Phase and djay PRO USB integration free?

The Phase firmware update and the features coming along with the Djay Pro AI update are free of charge, but you must own a Phase unit and the PRO subscription on djay PRO to use the integration.

  • How does the Phase and djay PRO USB integration work, what is HID?

HID is a USB communication protocol that allows a fast information transmission between a hardware device and a computer. It is commonly used for CDJ players and for many hardware devices. The HID communication provides a faster transmission of data, enhances the communication between the devices, improves stability, and extends the quality of sent data.

Thanks to this powerful HID protocol, Phase is now fully integrated with djay PRO, which means it can be directly connected to the laptop via USB without the need for RCA cables.

Using an HID communication allows us to send the data much faster between the Phase Receiver and the DJ Software. It offers DJs an even more accurate, reliable experience with reduced latency.

This integration brings out great optimisations and brand new features to enrich Phase experience with djay PRO. To know more about the Phase and djay PRO integration, read more on our website.
