How to setup Phase for the first time

Welcome to the Phase Community!

This guide walks you through everything from the first charge to your first session. Follow the steps in order and you'll be up and running in under 30 minutes.

What's in the box

• 1 Receiver
• 2 Remotes
• 2 RCA cables
• 1 USB cable
• 4 Magnetic Stickers
• 1 Quick Start Guide

What you need

• A computer running macOS 10.12 or higher, or Windows 10 or higher
• Phase Manager v2.4.6: phasedj.com/configuration
• A Phase account (free, created during setup)
• Your DJ software: Serato DJ Pro, Virtual DJ, rekordbox, Traktor Pro, or djay Pro

Setup steps

1. Charge your Phase
   The battery doesn't come fully charged out of the box, so start here.
   • Plug the Receiver into a USB power source (your laptop or a 5V wall outlet)
   • Give it up to two hours to charge
   • Avoid the mixer's USB port. Some mixers don't deliver enough power, which can cause connection issues
2. Download and open Phase Manager
   Head to phasedj.com/configurationto download v2.4.6.
   • Connect the Receiver to your computer via USB
   • Open Phase Manager and sign in to your Phase account, or create one
   • The app will detect your unit automatically
3. Update the firmware
   If an update is available, a red button will appear on the main screen.
   • Click it to go to the Update Center
   • Follow the on-screen steps. The current firmware for Phase Essential is v9
   • Do not skip this step
4. Link the Remotes to the Receiver
   • Place each Remote in its dock on the Receiver
   • Long-press the A or B setup button for 3 seconds
   • The Remote is linked when its LED strip and setup button show the same color
   • When you take them out, the button turns white. That's normal
5. Stick the Magnetic Stickers on your records
   • Peel the protective tape off each sticker
   • Apply it to the center label area of your record

6. Calibrate the Remotes' sensors
   • Take the Remotes out and set them on a flat, still surface
   • Keep them completely motionless while the LED strip animates up and down
   • Once the LEDs turn solid, calibration is done. Place them on your records
7. Configure your DJ software
   Phase works in two modes depending on your setup:
   • HID mode (USB only): available for Serato DJ Pro, rekordbox, Virtual DJ, and djay Pro. No RCA cables needed between Phase and your mixer. See the HID setup guides.
   • DVS mode (RCA): plug the Receiver's RCA outputs into the Line inputs of your mixer or DVS interface. Works with all compatible software.
